Mosaic Teaching is a concept of instruction that entails a compilations of knowledge, information and messages in various formats and modalities to create a Mosaic Learning experience.
This concept is based on using all the tools, information and resources to create a dynamic, multi-layer, composite lesson that can be shared as an interactive experience. The experience encompasses the dynamic of how God communicates with us as individuals and illustrates how He is interacting with us all the time. This conception of individual parts (tiles) to conceive a universal message (mosaic image) is like using proven concepts (tiles) in a new dynamic presentation (mosaic image) to communicate with those who wish to engage.
Mosaic Teaching Concept examples:
- In a multi-person discussion/podcast there is a topic introduced. Each person brings to the table their experiences, knowledge and perspective to provides a relatively full-picture of that topic. This group participation highlights the input of the individual as a contributor, yet all together it communicates the topic of discussion more fully. Each piece of tile is a piece of art in itself, yet when combined with other tiles a bigger design is revealed.
- God used various characters and their experiences to express His messages. There were various people who wrote about these characters and experiences composed through the 66 books to make up The Bible: The Message. Each book is a creative and expressive message of God (tile), but the books when combined create a living, relevant and priceless design (mosaic) that is timeless and just as relevant today as when it was written.
- Honey bees collect nectar from flowers (experience, learning, observation, revelation), transport it back to the hive, process the nectar and deposit it into honeycomb. The bees are working together, each one contributing in the creation of a single cell (tile) yet together, their efforts create a honeycomb that is representative of their coordinated effort (Mosaic). (Interesting: There are 66 books in the Bible and 66 references of bees/honey/honeycomb in the Bible)
Orchestrated by the host/the prophet/queen bee, the efforts are shared to gather up the information/peices of the message/the nectar is brought back for compilation of the tiles for a finished mosaic. Where one "tile" may not spark a flame, another may ignite the message to see the "big picture" for a broad audience. In Mosaic Teaching, we communicate the topics as well as learning processes and skills. Rather than being overwhelmed by the dynamic of the world, we use the dynamic of the mosaic to focus our sights on the beauty and the depth of experiencing God's Kingdom. Our goal is to focus on "The Message," on engaging and experiencing God in all we do, see, hear and communicate in our daily lives.
